Chapel

A church and columbarium in Longyearbyen, Svalbard, where there are few churches and few places for people to be laid to rest.

The plan grows from a study of Palladio's Villa Cornaro, whose rooms were isolated, rotated and reorganised into a sequence with a start and an end. Light is used deliberately along that route: the visitor moves from darkness back into the light.
